NEW BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:
1. CICC Parenting Education Representatives
2. CICC Regional Trainers-of-Instructors
3. National and International Licensing of Instructor Training Workshops

Dear Friend:

For the last 26 years the Center for the Improvement of Child Caring (CICC) has kept its eye on a singular goal: to put children first by helping their parents and communities to raise them as effectively and as humanely as possible.

We are proud of our accomplishments in this regard. Our programs and services have led to bringing effective parenting into the homes of hundreds of thousands of children.

One of the ways we have been able to do this is through training over 5,000 committed individuals to promote and deliver a variety of parenting skill-building programs, including our trio of award-winning programs, Confident Parenting, Los Niņos Bien Educados and Effective Black Parenting. All of these social workers, educators, counselors, nurses and psychologists have received training through workshops that were led by National-Trainers-of-Instructors in a particular program.

As we embark on our next 26 years of service, we are expanding through developing a network of affiliated organizations and individuals who not only promote effective parenting but who benefit financially from this humanitarian promotion.

The network consists of CICC Parenting Education Representatives, CICC Regional Trainers-of-Instructors, and Licensees of CICC's Parenting Instructor Training Workshops. We invite you to be part of this network by becoming a representative and/or considering to be a candidate for the regional trainer role, or exploring the possibility of becoming a workshop licensee.

CICC Parenting Education Representatives

[ Go to CICC Parenting Education Representative Application Form ]

Representatives are individuals or organizations that are committed to parenting education. They are responsible for encouraging their peers, colleagues, associates, friends and family members to enroll in any regularly scheduled CICC parenting instructor training workshop in any city in the United States or abroad. For every individual who they sign up for a workshop and who pays the enrollment fee (or has his or her agency or school pay the enrollment fee), the representative receives 5% of the fees as a commission. For example, if the workshop enrollment fee is $1,000, the representative earns $50.00.

With the organizations that representatives know or work with, they encourage them to host CICC Instructor Training Workshops or to contract with CICC to run workshops just for their staffs. Here again the representatives receive a 5% commission on the hosted or contracted workshops that they are responsible for initiating. If any of these groups seek to obtain an exclusive license to conduct CICC Instructor Training Workshops in their areas, the representative who introduced the licensing idea to them receives 5% of the $100,000 license fee (see below).

Representatives also receive a 5% commission on any parenting program educational materials (Instructor Kits, Instructor Manuals, Parent Handbooks, etc.) that they are responsible for having purchased.

In addition, if the representative stimulates an organization or school or religious group to contract with CICC to have CICC deliver a parenting seminar or class in one of CICC's programs for that group, the representative earns a 5% commission on that contract. And, if the representative is qualified to conduct the particular class or seminar, CICC will hire the representative to run it and pay the representative a training fee equivalent to 17% of the contract.

CICC Regional Trainers-of-Instructors

[ Go to CICC Regional Trainers-of-Instructors Application for Candidacy ]

Regional Trainers, who must also be Parenting Education Representatives, are responsible for generating their own parenting instructor training workshops in their city or geographic area, and for developing and supervising their own CICC Parenting Education Representatives to help enroll people in their workshops. They receive 17% of each workshop enrollment fee for organizing and running their workshops, and their representatives receive 5% for enrolling people in their workshops. CICC helps to enroll people by listing the workshops of the Regional Trainers on its Web site and by providing technical assistance in marketing and implementing workshops.

Organizations that have one or more staff members trained as Regional Trainers can become CICC Regional Training Centers for the specific program.

Becoming a Regional Trainer-of-Instructors involves a multi-step advanced training process. The process begins by completing a parenting instructor training workshop in a CICC program, conducting at least two classes for parents in that program, and being able to stimulate others to enroll in instructor training workshops. Then the candidate receives special training from a CICC Trainer-of-Instructors, which qualifies him or her to become a Regional Trainer.

If you are seriously interested in becoming a CICC Parenting Education Representative or a Regional Trainer-of-Instructors, go to the relevant application (which was indicated above), and complete and send the application to CICC with the appropriate cover letter and resume. A member of our staff will get back to you immediately to discuss details.

National and International Licensing of Instructor Workshops

As part of this new millenium expansion, we are also making available opportunities to license our Parenting Instructor Training Workshops worldwide.

The license to conduct the workshops in one of our programs is $100,000 for five years. Qualified organizations, companies or individuals can apply and, if selected, will be able to conduct the workshops on an exclusive basis in a clearly defined geographic area, such as in a specific city or state in the United States, or in a specific city or country outside of the United States.

The licensee then becomes the exclusive provider of instructor training workshops in a specific CICC program for a specific area. Any persons or groups from that area who want to enroll in workshops to learn how to deliver the program and become certified to deliver it must enroll in workshops that are run by the owner of the license.

The criteria for selecting licensees includes their having qualified individuals who CICC can train to become Trainers-of-Instructors in a particular program, as these CICC-trained individuals will be the ones who conduct the workshops for the license holder. Other criteria include whether the potential licensee has sufficient resources to pay the upfront license fee and whether they have sufficient contacts and relationships to recruit people into the workshops that they will conduct over the five-year license period.

Once it has been determined that a potential licensee meets these criteria and has paid the license fee, one or more of his or her staff or consultants will begin their training to become a Trainer-of-Instructors. This involves the exact same multi-step advanced training process that was indicated above for becoming a Regional Trainer-of-Instructors. When this is completed, the licensee has their own staff or consultants to conduct the workshops in their area.

The licensee is responsible for the advertising and implementation of the workshops in their exclusive area. However, we will list the licensee's workshops on our Web site, will orient people from that area to enroll in the licensee's workshops, and we will provide technical assistance to the licensee on workshop advertising and implementation.

The licensee charges enrollees the standard instructor training workshop fee that CICC establishes. Enrollment fees for CICC instructor workshops include the Instructor's Kit for a particular program and CICC provides the Kits for the licensee's workshops.

For example, if the workshop enrollment fee is $1,000, which includes $500 for the Instructor's Kit and its shipping and handling, the licensee collects $1,000 per enrollee and sends $500 to CICC for the kits, which CICC sends to the licensee's workshop. The licensee uses part of the remaining $500 from the enrollment fee to pay for their costs, including the costs that are associated with using their own Trainers-of-Instructors to run their workshops.

It may take some time for the licensee's staff or consultants to complete their training to become a Trainer-of-Instructors in the chosen CICC program. During that start-up period, CICC will facilitate the running of workshops in the licensee's area by sending one or more of our National or Regional Trainers-of-Instructors to lead workshops in the licensee's area under the auspices of the licensee. The same financial agreement will prevail as when the licensee has his or her own Trainer-of-Instructors, i.e., the licensee will pay the Trainer's costs, as well as the other costs for advertising and implementing the workshops out of their $500 from the enrollment fee.

If you or your company or your department is interested and qualified in becoming a Workshop Licensee, please study this Web site very closely to obtain a broader understanding of our programs and workshops. Then call our Training Department and indicate that you would like to discuss workshop licensing.

We look forward to working closely with you as a representative and/or as a candidate for regional trainer or as a potential workshop licensee!

With warmest regards,

Founder, Executive Director
